Spreadex Steps in as Burnley FC Shirt Sponsor for EPL 2022/23

Burnley FC will welcome sports betting operator Spreadex as its official shirt sponsor for the 2022/23 season in the EPL.

Burnley FC Brings in Spreadex as Official Shirt Sponsor

Spreadex, a spread betting operator, has become the official shirt sponsor of Burnley FC, a Premier League soccer club. The partnership will last through the 2022/23 season and comes amid growing concerns over partnerships that push sports betting companies’ logos on player jerseys and attire.

Spreadex, though feels confident that the partnership meets all regulatory standards and has agreed to pay an undisclosed multimillion-dollar amount to see the branding rights secured for the upcoming season in less than three weeks now. The partnership was signed in the wake of a failed partnership with Love Bet, another sports betting operator which ran into financial troubles and had to back out of the agreement.

The partnership also features other advertising rights, player access, and branding across Burnley’s official website, as well as a stronger presence across the club’s social media channels.

The operator is going to collaborate with Burnley on a number of initiatives that are community-focused, including charities, drawing a line between its sports betting business and other benefits that come out of the partnership. The club and operator will be donating £5 (around $7) to the Alzheimer’s Society for each third jersey it has sold.

Building Upon Fan Engagement and Boosting Awareness

The deal is mutually beneficial to the club and the traditional sports betting and financial trading operator, which is confident that the collaboration will help yield various dividends, from higher engagement to exclusive contests featuring Premier League tickets and more.

Commenting on this partnership, Burnley FC head of commercial partnerships Ella Cummins said that the team was delighted to welcome the operator as the club’s new principal partner. “We look forward to working together over the coming season on some exciting campaigns and are thrilled Spreadex has chosen Burnley Football Club for their first sports partnership,” Cummins added in an official release.

Burnley FC is not the only soccer team to have signed a shirt sponsorship in the past months. Southampton, another Premier League soccer club, signed a similar partnership with Sportsbet.io, a crypto betting operator, earlier this year. Sportsbet.io has multiple similar partnerships, including one with Brazilian soccer club Sao Paulo.

Commenting on the partnership with Burnley FC, Spreadex chief executive Dave MacKenzie said that the company was delighted to be joining the club’s family. “This deal reflects the ambitious growth plans Spreadex has as a company, and we’re thrilled to be partnering with a superbly-run club with such an established history and reputation,” MacKenzie concluded.
